Course 4 - Curves

The Chair

Skills from this course
 Smoothing meshes
 Creating Bezier Curves
Adding anchor point to a curve
 Bevelling curves
Converting a curve into a mesh

I did struggle with this tutorial but Ifound it more tricky then before because I think the tutorial gives you the wrong axis to lock when rotating etc. So had to figure out how to do some things on my own. Also i had to restart several times because strange black markings kept apearing on the chair, I think it was because it had twisted over itself when I had changed it's curve shape, but after carefully re-doing it I worked fine. This was by far the most tricky tutorial so far and it took me some time unlike the others! Time to try out the new curving technique on the paper clip challenge!!......

Eggscuse the pun

Proportional editing challenge

Using what i had learnt from the proportional editing tutorial I created this egg carton type thing, I created the egg by scaling a UVsphere and setting its render level to 6. The egg carton has the SubSurf effect but with a low render level of 2.

Course 3 – Render options & Proportional editing

Mountain scenery through Proportional Editing

Skills from this course:

Using Anti-aliasing for renders (OSA)
Saving the render result as JPG file
Changing the resolution of the final render
 SubSurf
 Proportional Editing
I learnt some more keyboard shortcuts during this simple tutorial and also some other ways to improve the model quality or speed up the rendering which will be useful in future when I make more complicated models.
So in edit mode is used for proportional editing and PgUp & PgDn are to change the radius.
I used a plane coloured it red and the background white, moved some areas down and most areas up to create a mountain type scene. This isn't really a model more of an experiment, I will use what I learnt in this tutorial to try and make and egg box...
