I had another go and I think this does look more like a salt cellar. I used the half UVsphere again and several cubes that i then rotated and then extruded and scaled. If each end was scaled more it would look rather like a shuttle cock.....

Pop this pill
Continuing on with the Blender tutorials....
Course 2 Mesh and Vertex editing II
Key things learnt:
Recognizing basic meshes
Vertex editing
“Smooth” objects
Entering coordinates manually
Naming and recognising Materials
Changing the Material colour

This time intead of starting off with a previous model or the cube, I started off with the UVsphere and went from there. In Editing mode I chopped the sphere in half and then extruded it to make half the pill. Then went back to Object mode to duplicate it and then rotate the duplication to make the other half of the pill. I then had to scale one half of the pill and then colour both halves and smooth them. Again an easy tutorial to follow, I have to use what I've learnt from this to create something new.....

Introduction to Blender first model House
Course 1 Mesh and Vertex Editing I
This is the first ever thing i have made in blender. I created it by following the tutorial from the Blender Course basics set of tutorials supplied by my tutor, created by Bas van Dijk.
I learnt mayn keyboard short cuts for camera views, manioulating and editing objects. I found the tutorial simple and good generally easy to carry out but I did notice at one point it goes from having one window open to four without an explanation, i figured out on my own that you have to right click at the window edge and select Split Area.
I made note of all the keyboard shot cuts supplied in the tutorial to help remember them.
I look forward to using what i have learnt to produce an object/model that is slightly more complex I especially look forward to adding some colour and maybe even an interesting texture.
